Admission to Reception Class in September 2026
OPEN DAY - TUESDAY, 25TH NOVEMBER 2025
You are welcome to attend an Open Day at St Mary's on Tuesday, 25th November 2025. This is intended for prospective parents of children who are due to start in Reception in September 2026. There will be three sessions available: 9:30am, 11:00am or 2:00pm. To reserve your place please send an e-mail FAO Mrs Lewis at stmarysrc.primary@newportschools.wales to confirm:
1. Your child's name and date of birth
2. Your contact telephone number
3. Your preferred session time.

Application forms will be available from 13th November 2025 and will be made available to download from this page. The application form should be completed electronically and returned together with supporting documents via e-mail to your first preference Newport Roman Catholic Primary School. (Please note it is not necessary to send a separate form to each Catholic Primary School). If St Mary's is your first preference school, please e-mail your documents to stmarysrc.primary@newportschools.wales. The closing date for application forms to be returned is 5pm on 15th January 2026.
The Governing Body will consider all on-time applications received and a decision letter will be sent via e-mail on 16th April 2026.
Late Applications
Late applications may be submitted but will only be processed after places have been allocated for applications that were received by the closing date.

School Transport
Applications for home to school transport are processed by Newport City Council. Please click on the following link for further information and to access the online application.
Application for Secondary School Yr 7 September 2026
Completed application forms for St Joseph's RC High School should be returned tby 5pm on the closing date Friday, 31st October 2025. If your child is baptised Catholic, you must submit a copy of their baptism certificate with the application form. If you are unable to locate your original baptism certificate, a copy can be provided by the church where your son/daughter was baptised.
Decision letters will be issued on Monday, 2nd March 2026.
