Senedd
Welcome to St Mary's Senedd.
Children in St Mary's recognise the importance they play in all aspects of school life, the community and the wider world around them. They have an opportunity to make a difference and do so through our school Senedd. Children in Years 4 to 6 are all members of one of our 12 Senedd groups (see below). Children in Reception to Year 3 are also members as they receive regular updates from the different Senedd groups and share their own ideas via the Senedd Suggestion Box.
The Senedd meets once a fortnight to discuss ways to make a difference in school, the community and the wider world and then put these plans into action. Each group has a staff member to help facilitate but groups are largely run by the children. At the beginning of the year, each group elects a Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson. The Chairperson is responsible for running the meetings following an agreed agenda, and the Deputy Chairperson supports the Chairperson as needed. All meetings follow an agreed agenda linked to each group's action plan and minutes are taken at every meeting. The children also elected a First Minister and Deputy First Minister to preside over the cabinet meetings and represent the school where necessary.
